I learned to swim just downstream from the old FO bridge when I was about 3. during the high school years, Chris and I used to float on AIR MATTRESSES (!) from the base of the bluff where she lived down to what is now Ancil Hoffman Park. I've also ridden a horse across the river but we did that in mid summer when the water was low. Love the crystal clear water.weeder1https://www.blogger.com/profile/13664668542203907470noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-25269874.post-81043220583345175922009-12-25T20:59:15.446-08:002009-12-25T20:59:15.446-08:00The American River is something I dearly miss. While at LS and ARC I did quite a bit of gold panning on the North Fork, near Colfax. Sometimes we rode the rapids in wetsuits, shooting downstream at fast speeds, such a thrill. Also did SCUBA diving downstream of Folsom and Nimbus Dams. Of course there was the old Fair Oaks Bridge - and stuff there. And tube riding the slower parts during the summer.willhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15590217997145761582noreply@blogger.com
